Santiago Canyon College Class

Survey of arboriculture and urban forestry, the management of planned and naturally occurring trees in and around urbanized areas such as cities, parks and residences. Arboriculture is the art and science of selecting, planting, and maintaining landscape trees; students will become familiar with the principles and practices of urban forestry and arboriculture.

UC Riverside Extension Class

Principles, practices and skills to manage trees within the urban forest. Among topics are the practical application of tree biology, water management, tree selection, pruning techniques, evaluating tree risk, diagnosing plant problems, and plant health care and nutrition. Specialized tree management situations, such as tree/root/pavement problems and root management principles, are discussed. This course should benefit students entering the tree care industry and for those working in the tree care industry who have little or no formal training in arboriculture.
